PARENT COMMUNICATION
Dear Parents, we are currently working on sending out a letter to you regarding you and your students financial commitment to the band and color guard. It is of the upmost importance that we begin to close all loose ends financially. There is still over $17,000 in uncollected money from a range of activities this year. We simply can not withstand this financial burden. Please do all that you can to help us move forward financially.

2nd ANNUAL “EVENING OF JAZZ” & JAZZ FESTIVAL
This year the evening of jazz was held in the Warren HS Library. Before the Evening of Jazz began we hosted our very first ever jazz festival. We had two middle school bands and five high school bands. The parents and students who helped out did an amazing job. A huge thanks to Angela Farmer and her family along with Colleen Abang, Ray and Liz Pacheco, Ramona Dominguez, Zorina Adeshefski, Liza Topacio, Manuel Martinez, Sonia Chavez and the many other parents who were here from start to finish. Another huge thank you to all the students who were amazing workers - especially those who are not in jazz band like Gina Choi, Brenda Amiel, Carla Veliz, Justine Escajada, Laura Moreno, Jenni Flores and the list goes on!

The Evening of Jazz portion was absolutely amazing…the bands performed with maturity and passion. These performances were recorded!

DOWNEY STREET FAIR!
The WHS Marching Band and Color Guard will be the opening act at the 2010 Downey Street Fair. We will wear our class B's and prepare and perform a couple upbeat songs. The Street Fair is on Saturday May 1st on Brookshire Ave. by the downey theatre.

All students must attend this event!

WIND ENSEMBLE GOES TO REGOINALS
The Wind Ensemble received a superior rating at the district level festival and is now moving on to Regionals.

2010 SPRING CONCERT
Our annual spring concert is just around the corner! The concert will feature both the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band as well as some solo and ensemble work. Don't miss this wonderful concert!

Cost: $7 presale tickets available ask any band student.

2010 AWARDS BANQUET
Every year the band boosters host an awards banquet for all the band and color guard students to enjoy as an end of the year celebration. We will continue the tradition of having this banquet at Rio Hondo Event Center. Students are welcome to invite their friends and family. There is a cost of attendance - please see details below!

Tickets: No Cost!
What: This use to be called Pops Concert. Now we will be inviting the entire city of Downey to showcase their musical talent! In fact - every school in the district has expressed interest in participating. This event will be much like a carnival. We will have food and vendors on the soccer field. Patrons will bring their lawn chairs and get to sit and watch MANY bands perform throughout the day. Performances will include all music ensembles in the Downey Unified School District along with local rock bands, student groups and will feature ONE PRIME performance in the evening!

*Every student will be expected to help and perform!
