SPRING SEMESTER BEGINS!
We have now officially started the spring semester. Students were given “calendars” on Monday February 1st. Please refer to these calendars for ALL spring activities.

DISNEYLAND - now for the Jazz Band!
The Jazz I band is gearing up to perform at Disneyland on Friday February 5th. The jazz band performs at 12:30pm at the Carnation plaza stage which is located next to the castle! All Jazz students must get their teachers permission to attend this performance trip and are responsible for any work or tests missed.

FUNDRAISING
Yes, we have to continue fundraising in the spring! In fact we really need to step up our financial commitment so that we are able to fulfill all of our financial obligations this year. Come to a booster meeting to see all the great things we have planned this upcoming semester!

TACOS and TALENT
Date: Saturday February 27th
Time: Noon - 9pm
Tickets: $7
What: This use to be called Pasta and Presto. Now we will be serving Tacos! This event is a dinner and performance event. The students will serve dinner to our patrons and then give perform for them in our gym. All ensembles including our two middle schools, West and Griffiths will be performing that evening!

*Every student is expected to sell 5 tickets. Students can earn money towards paying off tuition by selling more than 5 tickets! Info coming home shortly!

EVENING OF JAZZ
Date: Saturday April 24th
Time: All Day
Tickets: $5
What: We started this last year. Both Jazz I and II combined to give a 2 hour concert filled with great music in the cafeteria of Old River School Road. This year we will be hosting this event in the Warren HS Library - an awesome facility on the campus of Warren HS. We are currently looking at hosting our very own JAZZ FESTIVAL throughout the day with high school and middle school bands competing and being professionally adjudicated.

*Students will be expected to sell tickets and help work the event!

DOWNEY DAY OF MUSIC
Date: Saturday June 5th
Time: ALL DAY AND NIGHT!

What: This use to be called Pops Concert. Now we will be inviting the entire city of Downey to showcase their musical talent! In fact - every school in the district has expressed interest in participating. This event will be much like a carnival. We will have food and vendors on the soccer field. Patrons will bring their lawn chairs and get to sit and watch MANY bands perform throughout the day. Performances will include all music ensembles in the Downey Unified School District along with local rock bands, student groups and will feature ONE PRIME performance in the evening!

*Every student will be expected to help and perform!

PERCUSSION THEATRE
Percussion Theatre competition on Saturday February 6th is CANCELED. We will be having rehearsal from 8am-3pm instead of going to the competition. There have been some changes that need to be fixed before we start competing. Please make sure all fair share money is in!

WINTER GUARD
The floor is painted and the show is coming to life! The first competition is around the corner. Please make sure your fair share money is turned in!
